Streetscooter GmbH and e.GO Mobile AG – if these names do not ring a bell, you better look twice at startups from Aachen, Germany’s most promising and exciting electric vehicle manufacturers. Streetscooter, established by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Achim Kampker and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günther Schuh in 2010, was acquired by Deutsche Post DHL in 2014. E.GO Mobile, was founded by Prof. Dr. Schuh in 2015 and will shortly start production.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ernst Schmachtenberg, Rector of RWTH Aachen University since 2008, graduated with a Diploma Degree in Engineering (Dipl.-Ing.), received his Doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, RWTH Aachen University (1985). Previously, he was Professor and Chair of Polymer and Materials Technology at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and RWTH Aachen Universities.

He is President-Elect CESAER (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Enginee- ring Education and Research, 10/2014 -), was - to name a few - President of the IDEA League (2014-2015), Member of the Supervisory Board Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung (2012-2016), President of TU9 German Institutes of Technology (2010-2013) and is a member of acatech (German Academy of Technical Sciences, since 10/2009).
