About the event:
With Brexit negotiations starting in late April, the EU-UK economic, business and financial relationships will change considerably.
Dr. Schmaltz will use his unique perspective as an academic, researcher at Deutsche Bundesbank and consultant to EU-based banks to provide an overview of the expected impact of Brexit on the EU and UK. This analysis will cover key sectors and issues such as the financial industry, manufacturing, mutual market access, and immigration.
He will then discuss specific possible changes and opportunities for German business.
These areas will include the emergence of Frankfurt as an even more important EU financial centre, what other industries may decide to shift operations to Germany, how leading German automobile firms will adjust to the likelihood of the implementation of tariffs on exports to the UK, and how expected tougher immigration policy in the UK might affect EU and German policy and labour markets.
