3) Purpose and Legal Basis for the Processing of Data

Data entered by you is collected to accept you as a member, to communicate with you, to invite you to our events, for surveys (e.g. business climate survey, membership survey) and to send you the Member Newsletter.

Your data is processed pursuant to Section 6 Subsection 1 lit. b GDPR. The legal basis for processing additionally data that is not necessary for the membership is Section 6 Subsection 1 lit. a.

4) Recipients of Personal Data

In the detailed view, name and contact details of the head of the company and of the main contact person are visible for other members. Only authorized persons of the AHK Japan gains access to further personal data. 

In addition, the agency commissioned to run the website as well as the technical service provider have access to the personal data provided during the registration process. These records will be deleted automatically three months after their creation.

5) Transfer of Personal Data to a Third Country

We do not transmit your personal data to another third country or an international organisation.

The provisioning of your data is carried out by means of an online web application. Confidentiality, integrity (inviolability), authenticity (genuineness) and availability of personal data can therefore not be guaranteed.

6) Duration of Storage

Your data will be stored until your membership is done. Beyond that, legal retention periods may also require your data to be stored after that.

7) Rights of the Data Subject

You have the following rights according to the EU General Data Protection Regulation:

  • If your personal data is processed, you have the right to obtain information regarding the storage of your personal data (Section 15 GDPR).
  • If incorrect personal data is processed, you have the right to the correction of such (Section 16 GDPR).
  • If legal requirements are given, you have the right to request the deletion or limitation of your data, and you have the right to object to any particular processing (Sections 17, 18 and 21 GDPR). In the event of an objection, we will no longer be able to contact you and your membership will be cancelled.
  • Since data processing is based on a contract, and since data processing is carried out via automated processes, you have a right to data portability where applicable (Article 20 GDPR).

Event Registration

Please note that you may be filmed or photographed during the event. By signing up for our events, you give your consent that a picture and/or your appearance in a video may be used for publication (print, online, social networks, etc.).

We will share your personal data – if applicable – with the respective event partner or customer that we organize the event for.

Your data is stored after the event so that we can send you additional information and invitations for other events if you have given your consent to such. You may revoke your consent at any time.

You have the following rights according to the EU General Data Protection Regulation:

  • If your personal data is processed, you have the right to obtain information regarding the storage of your personal data (Section 15 GDPR).
  • If incorrect personal data is processed, you have the right to the correction of such (Section 16 GDPR).
