Renewable Energy in Germany and Japan: Solutions for Offshore Wind Energy Projects

Seven German companies presented various practical cases, projects and technologies for offshore wind energy to 120 guests at the AHK Japan symposium "Renewable Energy in Germany and Japan: Solutions for Offshore Wind Energy Projects".

In Japan, the development of electricity generation from wind energy hitherto has not proceeded as significantly, compared to the use of solar energy, which increased rapidly after the introduction of feed-in tariffs. However, it is expected that the adoption of the new "Law on Promotion of Use of Territorial Waters for Offshore Renewable Energy Generation Facilities" in 2018, which allows for long-term exploitation of designated sea areas for offshore projects, will significantly contribute to further growth in this sector.

The symposium "Renewable Energy in Germany and Japan: Solutions for Offshore Wind Energy Projects" was held as part of the Exportinitiative Energie, an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) to support German companies in the field of renewable energies in entering foreign markets. Experts and companies from the offshore sector presented about interesting projects and the latest technologies in Japan and Germany. The event thus offered the opportunity to exchange best practice and operative expertise in the field of offshore wind energy, and further promoted economic exchange.

The full event report by the AHK Japan on this event is only available in German.
