The EU delegation in Tokyo pointed out that the Japanese customs authorities have updated the guideline for Rules of Origin (RoO) for imported goods and published the rules for imports according to the EU-Japan Free Trade Agreement separately.
The objective was to make a clear distinction between the RoO procedures applicable under the EU-Japan EPA and RoO procedures provided in the Japanese EPAs with Australia and with TPP 11. We and the EU Delegation hope that this publication will help importers of EU products to easily claim preferential tariff treatment under the EPA.
The guidance are in Japanese. Please circulate them among interested stakeholders. As already mentioned in my previous emails, please keep us informed in case any difficulties regarding RoO procedures under the EPA continue or arise.
