About
Ibaraki Prefecture is located 100 kilometres north of Tokyo and has a population of approximately 3 million people.
Ibaraki’s appeal is not limited to its closeness to Tokyo as it also has vast flat land suitable for industrial locations. Ibaraki has many important industrial areas including Tsukuba which is Japan’s largest Science City and Hitachi city which is where Hitachi, Ltd. was founded and where its related facilities are based. In addition, Ibaraki is home to one of the largest industrial clusters in Japan, the Kashima Coastal Industrial Zone (Kashima Industrial Complex), which is a hub for many petrochemicals and other materials industries.
In recent years, companies have been moving into the prefecture as it is highly regarded by companies as an industrial base located within the metropolitan area.
