Nivea-Kao Co., Ltd. was established in 1971 as a joint venture between Beiersdorf AG of Germany and Kao Corporation of Japan.
Nivea-Kao manufactures and distributes NIVEA, 8x4 (Eight Four) and Atrix products. Consumer research on skincare habits, skin type and product needs is carried out in Japan, and product development takes into account various factors such as the skin type, preferences, culture and climate of the Japanese people. Using technology from Beiersdorf in Germany and research and surveys unique to Japan, the company pursues the creation of products that are comfortable for people living in Japan and keep their skin healthy.
