Self-Introduction & Motivation

My name is Andrea Coscia, Managing Director of TÜV SÜD Japan. Originally from Italy, I have lived and worked in Japan for over three years. Leading the Japanese branch of a German company as a non-German is a unique position—one that has immersed me in a rich mix of cultures, perspectives, and leadership styles.

While I may not have initially planned to run for the AHK Board, I was encouraged to do so by someone I deeply respect. That encouragement prompted me to reflect—and I realized how much I value the community and opportunities AHK fosters. This is a meaningful chance to contribute to the network that has played an important role in shaping my leadership experience in Japan.

How I Can Contribute

I stand at the intersection of three cultures—Italian roots, German corporate values, and Japanese business practice. This multicultural lens has shaped how I think, lead, and build bridges across differences.

As a Board Member, I would bring this lived understanding of diversity, alongside my commitment to strategic dialogue and action.

Furthermore, as the Head of TÜV SÜD Japan, I represent a trusted voice from the German industrial community here. Our daily interactions span sectors, cultures, and regulatory landscapes—offering a platform from which I can share current industry perspectives and foster stronger ties between German businesses and their Japanese counterparts.

I look forward to the opportunity to serve the AHK community with authenticity, energy, and a global mindset.
