The region between Münster and Oldenburg is considered one of the most intensively farmed agricultural regions in Germany. Here in northwestern Germany, in the so-called Agrotech Valley, the entire value chain from primary production to agricultural technology to the food industry, including leading research institutions, is located in a high density. This economic region is unique in all of Europe and offers the best conditions for improvements in agricultural practice on a broad scale. At the same time, the region has powerful cooperation platforms with international visibility.
For example, the Agrotech Valley Forum e.V. (AVF), a community of companies from the agricultural and food industry as well as research and teaching institutions and regional authorities, was founded in 2019. This network institutionalizes a leading agricultural systems technology cluster of predominantly owner-operated companies that has been able to develop around agriculture in northwestern Germany over decades.
Against the background of the digital transformation of the agricultural and food industry, the AVF works together on the challenges facing the industry beyond the boundaries of business, science, and administration.
In doing so, the AVF is focused on innovation in agricultural research and agricultural technology and their efficient integration into future digital value chains. The AVF's fields of activity lie in the mediation of interests and establishment of cooperation between industry specialists and scientists as well as in the initiation, support, and implementation of research and development projects.
The AVF supports the transfer of innovative technologies from the labs into the fields at an early stage. To that end, the AVF maintains cooperation with national and international expert groups, economic promotion organizations, and business associations from the fields of agriculture and the food industry.
