This conference brings together German and Japanese companies, public-sector stakeholders, research institutions, and industry experts in the field of bioenergy to exchange practical insights and explore opportunities for collaboration. The program will focus on innovative bioenergy solutions for rural areas, with a particular emphasis on Hokkaido. Topics include biomass utilization, regional energy systems, waste-to-energy approaches, financing opportunities, technology transfer, and the role of bioenergy in decarbonization and regional development.

The conference aims to strengthen bilateral exchange and support concrete cooperation by connecting decision-makers and experts from government, academia, and industry in Japan and Germany. Through keynote speeches, company presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, participants will gain insights into current market developments, policy trends, and innovative technologies in the bioenergy sector.

Following the conference program, a dedicated B2B networking fair with the participating German companies will take place directly at the venue, providing attendees with the opportunity to engage in individual discussions, explore potential cooperation projects, and establish new business contacts.

Held within the framework of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) German Energy Solutions Initiative, the conference is part of a business delegation of German SMEs visiting Japan from June 21 to 26, 2026. The Bioenergy Conference will take place in Sapporo on June 24, 2026, and is designed to facilitate targeted exchange and potential partnerships with Japanese stakeholders.

Participating Companies

agriKomp GmbH

agriKomp GmbH is a German EPC provider and manufacturer of biogas and biomethane technologies with more than 25 years of experience and over 1,000 biogas plants implemented worldwide.

We develop and manufacture key components in-house, including biogas upgrading systems, CHP units, feeding systems, agitators and gas storage solutions. Our portfolio ranges from agricultural biogas plants to large-scale biomethane projects.

For the Japanese market, we are looking for strategic partners, EPC collaborators, engineering companies, consultants and local project developers interested in renewable gas, biomethane and decarbonization solutions. Depending on the partnership model, we can provide complete turnkey systems, core technologies, or selected components made in Germany.

With our strong engineering background and international project experience, we aim to build long-term partnerships for sustainable energy projects in Japan.

Weber Entec GmbH & Co. KG

Weber Entec GmbH & Co. KG is the market leader in the disintegration of biomass through ultrasound, with over 200 installations worldwide.

The advantages for operators of biogas plants are above all the improved fermentation, in particular feeding difficult substrates, with an increase of the biogas yield and / or saving of the substrate. Additional income or savings of 8 to 15% are achieved. In addition reducing viscosity helps optimize plant operation.

Weber Entec supplies turnkey ultrasonic disintegration systems, advises and supports its customers during the planning and operation of the plants.

APROVIS Energy Systems GmbH

APROVIS is a highly specialized company with a focus on efficient energy utilization in combined heat and power and biogas upgrading plants providing biogas treatment equipment, exhaust gas heat recovery components in conjunction with exhaust emission reduction equipment, made in Germany, that work with all major engines brands.

As an owner-managed, medium-sized company from Germany with an export share of more than 50% our individual components and customized solutions are in use worldwide. With the regional office Asia Pacific located in Indonesia and long-term partners in dedicated countries APROVIS has prooven special commitment to the region Asia Pacific.

HeGo Biotec lnternational GmbH

We are HeGo Biotec International GmbH, a producer of amorphous iron hydroxide media for the removal of H2S from gas streams down to 0 ppm in a cost-effective way due to the high selectivity and loading capacity of our products for H2S removal.

Our products can be used in the following applications:

  1. Landfill gas
  2. Biogas from agriculture and animal waste
  3. H2S removal from coal/waste gasification
  4. Odour removal
  5. Oil & gas applications
  6. Biogas upgrading and biomethane production

In addition, we also produce amorphous iron hydroxide products for water treatment applications, including:

  • Arsenic removal from drinking water
  • Phosphate removal from lakes

Heavy metal removal from rainwater and landfill leachate

WELTEC BIOPOWER GmbH
2G Energy International GmbH

The 2G Energy AG Group is an internationally leading manufacturer and system provider of decentralized energy supply systems. The company develops, produces and installs comprehensive solutions in the structurally growing market for highly efficient CHPs, large heat pumps and peak-load gensets. Digital grid integration and plant control for these types of energy generators, as well as service and maintenance, are further decisive performance criteria.

The product portfolio comprises three types of energy generation: CHP plants in the output range from 20 kW to 2,500 kW for operation with hydrogen, natural gas, biogas and other lean gases, large heat pumps in the range from 100 kW to 2,600 kW as well as peak-load gensets with an electrical output of 500 kW or more. CHP plants operate with efficiencies of 90 percent and more, while large heat pumps achieve efficiencies of 300 to 500 percent, depending on the general conditions. With its products and services, 2G is at the interface to a decentralized, secure and largely decarbonized energy supply. More than 10,000 2G systems have already been installed worldwide in various applications, supplying electrical and thermal energy to a wide range of customers from the housing industry, agriculture, commercial and industrial companies, energy suppliers, municipal utilities and local government authorities.

2G has started its activities in Japan in 2004 and has since then successfully supplied more than 240 CHP Units across the country. Many of those installations have been made for Biogas Applications such as Agricultural application, Organic Waste Treatment, Food & Beverage Processing as well as Sewage Treatment Plants. Service & Maintenance is provided by local Japanese Partner companies with long-term Business relationships all exceeding plus 10 years.

GRENOL GmbH

GRENOL GmbH, founded in 2007, is a German Greentech company focusing on Hydrothermal processes, that is the conversion of wet biomass waste into coal products and fertilizer under conditions of heat and pressure in a closed system (HTC reactor) within a highly energy efficient process; subsequently these primary products are used to produce electric energy, heat/cold and fertilizing products. HTC is suitable for base load energy production, thus complements renewables such as solar and wind energy.

GRENOL's innovative technology is patented in multiple countries, including Japan. For Japan, GRENOL aims to build strong partnerships with municipalities and companies within the sector of biomass waste disposal, renewable energy and pressure tubes.

Fritz Paulmichl GmbH

Paulmichl is a family-run German company with over 100 years of experience in the fields of biogas, slurry and environmental technology.

We supply robust, sustainable and highly efficient solutions worldwide that combine quality, innovation and environmental responsibility to support agriculture and future generations.
