Dear AKH members,

I am Christian Mecker, 57 years old, and President of Bosch Japan since October 2024. I graduated from Ecole Centrale de Lyon and spent a year at the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt. I joined the Bosch Group in France 33 years ago as a combustion engine application engineer and have held various positions in engineering, project management, and sales in France, Japan, and Germany. My experience spans a range of areas in Mobility, from optimizing combustion engine efficiency, leading the development of electric powertrain components, to shaping connected mobility solutions.

Bosch is fully committed to the Japanese market. Our investment in the new headquarters in Yokohama, which opened last year, and the upcoming integration of Johnson Controls-Hitachi Residential Air Conditioning are tangible confirmations of this commitment. These investments demonstrate our belief in the long-term potential of the Japanese market and our dedication to providing innovative solutions for our customers.

I am truly convinced that collaboration and exchange are vital for success. With new technologies covering larger business domains, being open to partnering will become increasingly important in the industry. In particular, I believe that the AHK plays a crucial role in fostering these partnerships and driving innovation, particularly in sustainable mobility.

My long experience in the mobility industry has provided me with valuable insights into the complexities of international business. I understand the importance of cultural diversity and its impact on successful collaborations. My deep understanding of the Japanese market and business culture will enable me to effectively bridge cultural nuances between Japan and Germany. Therefore, I would like to become a board member of the AHK and contribute actively to the development of Japanese-German business. I believe my experience in cross-cultural team management will be a valuable asset to the board. I am eager to share my expertise and work alongside fellow members to strengthen the ties between Japan and Germany.
