Self-Introduction and Motivation
Dear Members of the AHK Japan,
The economic and societal cooperation between Germany and Japan is an essential element in the close relationship and friendship both countries hold.
Shared values, beliefs, and interests between the third and fourth largest economies in the world shape the foundation for common trade and commerce – elements that remain paramount for their cooperation, growth and prosperity.
The Japanese market holds many opportunities for German companies, and the AHK plays a vital role in fully tapping on these opportunities and further developing them.
I believe in larger cooperation possibilities among Japan and Germany and that our chamber can contribute significantly to that goal by supporting German companies doing business in Japan.
Having planned and built a German-Japanese JV between Toyota and Daimler Truck recently, I have the privilege to experience the opportunities from German-Japanese cooperation every day. These are not limited to large corporations: Japan has a lot to offer for companies of all sizes.
The market is large, income/capita is high and the political landscape and society are stable. The country is also safe and beautiful. With quality, good communication and some patience, the market holds many opportunities. To fully develop them is what I aim to contribute to as board member of the AHK Japan.
From my discussions with many leaders in METI, MLIT, MOE, in industry associations and Japanese companies, I know that cooperation and friendly “competition” with Germany is highly rated and appreciated. The AHK Japan’s work is widely recognized and well-perceived as representative of the German economy and its interests.
In times of geopolitical uncertainties, these partnerships among like-minded nations carry even greater weight.
I will be fully committed to supporting the work and mission of the AHK and contributing to the growth of Japanese-German economic cooperation for the benefit of our member companies.
I truly appreciate the trust and support I have received from our members during my first term serving on the board of the AHK Japan, and can assure you of the same determination and motivation in a potential second term.
