The program was initiated in April 2024 in cooperation with German automotive brands and vocational schools to address Japan’s shortage of automotive technicians. Based on Germany’s vocational training system, trainees gain practical experience at companies while attending school for theoretical studies. Over the three-year program, trainees acquire advanced technical skills and specialized knowledge, opening a professional career pathway.
The first cohort of 18 trainees is currently undergoing training, and applications are now open for the second cohort, starting this spring.

Visitor feedback:
It’s amazing that the training is free!
I didn’t know there was a program where you can study at a vocational school while working at a dealership!
Japan should recognize skilled professionals more, like the German Meister system.
If you love cars and mechanics or are interested in building a stable career as a technician, we encourage you to apply!
