On March 19th 2017, the Hannover Declaration was concluded by Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and Ms. Brigitte Zypries, Minister for Economics and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany. Both Parties agreed on a further cooperation in 9 major fields of IoT/ Industry 4.0 to promote development towards the 4th industrial revolution. As one of the 9 points, both sides will continue to encourage Japanese and German SMEs for more intensive cooperations and knowledge sharing.

The "German SME Industry 4.0 Symposium" on February 18th will be held as part of the foreign market entry programme for SMEs commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, as a platform for exchange for Japanese and German SMEs.

In addition to presentations given by 7 German companies, the program consists of expert lectures from the German and Japanese industry. With this symposium, AHK Japan intends to provide an opportunity for bilateral exchange of current topics of the industry.
