It is a well-known fact that Japan is a super-aged society according to the definition of UN. The population of the elderly will continue to increase until 2040 but its percentage will never decrease even after 2040. No has a concrete view about the future of this aging super-aged society.

Dr. Otake, who has introduced telemedicine into critical care medicine first in Asia, will provide his perspective of future Japanese medical landscape. This will cover the topic of how technology innovation changes the provision of health and what opportunities lay behind those changes.

In the area of advanced medicine such as critical care or anesthesia, doctors receive an overwhelming amount clinical data to make decisions. The variety and amount of data is ever increasing and there is a huge space for new technology to help doctors make decisions. In the area of home or outpatient care, there is room for improvement to help the elderly live a healthier life with less caregiving.
