Evonik Japan, Co. Ltd.

Company Introduction

Evonik is one of the world’s leading specialty chemicals companies. While we don’t produce electric cars, aircrafts, medications or 3D printers, Evonik is part and parcel of these and many other end products. We contribute the small things that make a big difference by making electric car batteries perform better, aircrafts greener, medications more effective and 3D printers more efficient. In short: We think beyond the bounds of chemistry to make the world a better place. Today and tomorrow.

Evonik is one of the world leaders in specialty chemicals. The company is active in more than 100 countries around the world and generated sales of €12.2 bn (¥1.6 trillion) in 2020. Evonik goes far beyond chemistry to create innovative, profitable and sustainable solutions for customers. More than 33,000 employees work together for a common purpose: We want to improve life, today and tomorrow.

About Our Printed Electronics Business and Products

R&D is driven forward by Creavis, our strategic innovation unit. Working closely with the business segments, Creavis is engaged in research into new technologies. Creavis has launched a new energy storage technology based on redox-polymers. It allows for completely solid-state ultra-thin printed batteries that can be directly integrated into sensors and IoT devices. The new proprietary TAeTTOOz® technology enables new applications in the IoT field, promoting more accurate health monitoring, more efficient logistics and smarter infrastructure.

The TAeTTOOz® materials are environmentally benign and can be processed via printing technologies. They create a new dimension of design freedom and allow a seamless integration of the battery in the production process.

Future Perspective and Expectation for German-Japanese Market

Evonik Japan began with only 10 members at the time of its establishment and with a very limited products line in 1969. However, we rode on the wave of Japan’s economic growth and became bigger. Now Evonik Japan has more than 180 employees as of today. Including our group companies in Japan, we have more than 450 employees. We have expanded our operations in terms of not only production facility but also technology centers and labs. Evonik Japan has been serving our customers through innovative products & solutions, dedicated services and reliable supplies. For the past 50 years, we have devoted ourselves to meet the needs of our Japanese customers and also made efforts to ground ourselves as a well-balanced German/Japanese company.  We will be looking forward to working with you in the years to come, and will be continuously making efforts to become your "partner of choice".

Message for Visitors

Evonik Japan Co. and Evonik Industries are looking forward to discussing the technological and business opportunities of the emerging field of printed electronics. Whereas conventional electronics are well established in Japan, printed electronics does over new possibilities in the Internet-of-Things and the medical field. Evonik is going to present its new energy storage materials technology TAeTTOOz®, which will allow Japanese customers to seamlessly integrate rechargeable batteries into thin hybrid devices.
