Background
In order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, offshore wind energy is seen as one of the most promising and highly anticipated sources of electricity in Japan as it can be produced in large quantities. While the legal framework is constantly being developed since the “Act of Promoting Utilization of Sea Areas in Development of Power Generation Facilities Using Maritime Renewable Energy Resources” coming into force in April 2019, last year a new milestone was reached with the agreement of government and industry on a wind energy target of 10 GW by 2030 and 30-45 GW by 2040.
Meanwhile in Germany, a total of 252 MW of new offshore wind power facilities came into operation in the first half of 2019 bringing the total of offshore wind power facilities in Germany to around 6,6 GW. In addition, the German Federal Government plans to expand the total offshore wind power output to 15 GW by 2030.
To overcome the ongoing climate change and potential energy issues, further developments of the offshore wind sector are crucial. With the promotion of economic exchange between Germany Japan, AHK Japan intends to further support the industry in the development.

GERMAN OFFSHORE WIND INITIATIVE (GOI)
The aim of the three-year initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) is to support German companies in the offshore wind energy sector in their export business to three of the most attractive, dynamically growing markets – Japan, Taiwan and the United States. It consists of three measures: an in-depth export market analysis, the organization of networking and sector events on site, and local support within each target market through GOI representatives in all three markets.
There are a large number of German players who are highly interested in the Japanese offshore wind market, including major equipment manufacturers, power producers and companies providing engineering and consulting services. They also well know that networking and collaboration with local companies is important in the Japanese offshore wind industry.
We are very much looking forward to helping you connect the experience and technology of the German offshore wind industry to the Japanese offshore wind industry through the German Offshore-Wind Initiative. If you are interested in this new GOI project, please contact us.
HARTING K.K.
Wind Energy market currently sees modularization trend. Wind turbines are growing in size, reaching the limit of transportation and need to be modularized. Ongoing product specialization requires units manufactured in different places to be gathered and assembled onsite. Another modularization factor is cost pressure, which prompts more and more manufacturers to extend and customize their existing system flexibly instead of developing new products. Modularized units require connections. HARTING set an industrial standard with its rectangular connector for harsh environment which allows combination of each module for signal, data, power, optical fiber and pneumatic connection in one connector. We will the established industrial connectors as well as other connectivity products suitable for Wind Energy market.
Nihon Weidmueller Co.,Ltd.
Weidmüller - Your Partner in Industrial Connectivity, together with our customers, we shape the digital transformation with products, solutions and services.

We will introduce the blade control system at the offshore event in Kitakyushu. The blade control system monitors the condition of the blade during 24 hours, 365days, and promptly reports any abnormality to the clients. We started the world’s first condition monitoring for wind power generation, and more than 4000 units have already been sold, and making it the number one share in the world for condition monitoring for wind power generation.
